Sara Withers

Dr. Sara Withers is a Senior Lecturer in Anthropology at the University of New Hampshire's College of Liberal Arts. She holds a Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology from Brandeis University (2009) with additional degrees in Women's Studies and Anthropology from Brandeis and Bowdoin College.

Her research explores intersections of gender, identity, and work, initially focusing on female teachers in Oaxaca, Mexico. Since 2010, she has shifted to refugee/immigrant experiences in New Hampshire, serving as Humanities Expert for documentaries and board member of Sycamore Community Garden. Her current photovoice project examines community identity among community college students.
