Sara Stevens is an architectural and urban historian affiliated with the University of British Columbia. Her work explores the intersection of architecture and capital, particularly how real estate developers have shaped urban design and policy in the 20th century.

Stevens’ research examines financialization in architecture, developer-architect relationships, and neoliberal urbanism. She has authored studies on Canary Wharf, suburban planning, and the role of professional organizations in public policy.
Her recent publications include edited volumes on Health (2022) and the JAE’s 75-year history (2021). She serves on the editorial boards of the MIT journal Thresholds and the Birkhäuser Exploring Architecture book series.
Stevens’ work has been supported by the Graham Foundation, Mellon Foundation, and Canadian Centre for Architecture. She previously taught at Rice, Columbia, Princeton, and Yale Universities.
