About
Dr. Sara Simblett is a Clinical Psychologist Lecturer at King's College London's Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN), specializing in neuropsychology. She leads the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre’s patient and public involvement initiatives, focusing on wearable technology and smartphone applications for mental health monitoring in conditions like depression, epilepsy, and multiple sclerosis. As Principal Investigator for the COPE-EMBRACE project, she explores real-time assessment strategies for encephalitis-related stress. Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and well-being (SDG 3).
Her research interests emphasize user-centered design of remote measurement technologies (RMT), with a focus on improving patient engagement and data utility. She collaborates internationally via the IMI-funded RADAR-CNS programme, investigating how wearables can predict disease symptoms. Key areas include digital biomarkers for depression relapse, EEG monitoring innovations, and ADHD long-term management through RMT.
Publications highlight themes like sleep-wearable interactions in depression, EEG@HOME feasibility studies, and qualitative insights into patient preferences for health visualizations. Her work bridges clinical psychology with technological innovation, prioritizing ethical user involvement across all projects.
