Sara Marie Shoffner

Sara Marie Shoffner, Ph.D., serves as Dean for Student Academic Success, Chair of the Department of Sport Science and Physical Education, and Associate Professor of Sport Management at Huntingdon College. She also acts as Faculty Athletic Representative. Her roles emphasize academic leadership, curriculum development, and student-athlete advocacy. Dr. Shoffner holds a Ph.D. in Education from Troy University (2017), an MBA from the University of Mississippi (2012), and a B.B.A. in Human Resources (2011) from the same institution.

Her research focuses on enhancing sport management education through technological innovation and understanding consumer behavior in sport contexts. Specific interests include pedagogical agents in virtual learning, constraints theory in student engagement, and the impact of corporate sponsorships on consumer perceptions.

Dr. Shoffner has been actively involved in professional development, including grants for career maturity studies and conference presentations. She mentors student-athletes and serves on committees like the NCAA Faculty Athletic Representative. Community service includes volunteering for Troy Fest, Relay for Life, and the First Tee of Greater El Paso.

Her career includes roles as a graduate assistant in career services at Troy University and teaching stints at Troy University and St. Marks School. She is a member of professional organizations such as COSMA and NASSM, and actively participates in United Methodist Church ministries.
