Michael Ross

Dr. Michael Ross serves as the Chair of the Department of Sport Management, Associate Professor of Sport Management, and Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) at Shorter University. He holds a PhD in Sport Management from Troy University, a Master's from the University of Georgia, and undergraduate degrees from Georgia College & State University and Piedmont University. His professional experience includes roles as an Assistant Athletic Director, founder of Elite Level Training (ELT), and part-time work with the Atlanta Hawks.

Research interests focus on NCAA compliance, sport management accreditation, and community-driven athletic development. He actively contributes to the Journal of NCAA Compliance (JONC) as a Senior Writer and serves on the Commission of Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA) Board of Commissioners. His work emphasizes student development through experiential learning, such as organizing events like the Super Bowl and NCAA Final Four for the Hawks Sports Society (HSS).

Dr. Ross has received accolades for teaching excellence and is committed to fostering community engagement through youth training programs and athletic events.
