Sara Gregg is an Associate Professor in the Department of History and Environmental Studies at Indiana University Bloomington. Her research explores the intersections of land policy, environmental change, and agricultural production, with a focus on the Great Plains and U.S. West. She is a member of the PhD Cluster in Environmental History and serves on the College Committee on Graduate Education.

Research Interests center on environmental history, agrarian thought, and the socio-political implications of federal land policy. Her current project, Prairie Metamorphosis, examines homesteading from 1804 to 1976 using microhistorical methods and archival analysis. Earlier works like Managing the Mountains and American Georgics analyze conservation policy and agrarian cultural narratives.
Publications reflect her engagement with environmental history, geospatial analysis, and social justice. Notable works include collaborations on digital exhibits, book chapters on GIS applications, and critiques of citation practices in academia. Her scholarship bridges historical and contemporary debates on land use, equity, and environmental sustainability.
