Sanford Markowitz is the Markowitz-Ingalls Professor of Cancer Genetics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He leads the GI Cancer Genetics Program and Case GI SPORE center, pioneering research in gastrointestinal cancer genetics and epigenetics. His work includes developing non-invasive cancer detection tests and tissue regeneration therapies.

- TGF-β receptors as colon cancer suppressors
- 15-PGDH pathway in tumor suppression and regeneration
- First stool DNA test for colon cancer detection
