Sandy Goldie is an Associate Professor of Music Education at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), where she teaches music education and string pedagogy courses. Prior to joining VCU, she taught graduate and undergraduate music education courses at the University of Florida. Dr. Goldie is also Director of Music Education and Chair of the Department of Music at VCU.

Her research focuses on transformative music teacher education, emphasizing how music education enhances sensitivity, awareness of beauty, and quality of life. She advocates for empowering preservice teachers to foster lifelong passion and skills in music education.
Dr. Goldie has received the David Wilmot Prize for Excellence in Music Education. She has held leadership roles in professional organizations such as ASTA (American String Teachers Association), NAfME (National Association for Music Education), and SCMEA (South Carolina Music Educators Association).
As a public school orchestra teacher for 14 years, guest conductor, and performer with symphonies like the SC Philharmonic and Charleston Symphony, she combines academic rigor with practical engagement. She actively presents at state, national, and international conferences (NAfME, ASTA, SCMEA, ISAME) and mentors future music educators.
