Sandra L. Borden

Sandra L. Borden is a Professor in the School of Communication and an affiliate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Western Michigan University. She specializes in communication ethics, journalism ethics, media theory, and freedom of expression. Her research intersects with media and poverty studies, and she has authored or co-edited significant publications in these areas.

Education:

• Ph.D. in Mass Communications from Indiana University
• M.A. in Journalism from The Ohio State University
• B.J. in Journalism from University of Missouri-Columbia

Her recent Fulbright Senior Scholar Award (2022-23) and multiple Faculty Achievement Awards at WMU highlight her contributions to research, teaching, and community service. She has led interdisciplinary projects and publications, including The Routledge Companion to Media and Poverty (2022).
