Sandra Beleza

Sandra Beleza is Lecturer in Genetics at the University of Leicester's Department of Genetics and Genome Biology. Her research combines human population genetics with microbial evolution studies, utilizing genomic approaches to understand human adaptation and diversity. The laboratory investigates evolutionary processes in admixed populations and host-microbe coevolution.

Research bridges: 1) Evolutionary genetics of human populations using uniparental markers (Y-chromosome, mtDNA); 2) Genomic architecture of phenotypic variation in admixed groups; 3) Microbial population genetics and evolution. Methodologies include genome-wide analysis, high-dimensional phenotyping, and computational genomics.
