Mark A. Jobling is Professor of Genetics at the University of Leicester and Deputy Head of the Department of Genetics & Genome Biology. His research focuses on human Y chromosome diversity and its applications in evolutionary and forensic genetics.
Research examines human evolution, population history, forensic DNA analysis, and genetic genealogy. Seminal work includes studies of Y-chromosome variation, patrilineal inheritance, and DNA fingerprinting techniques.
Awards include:
- Brattle Group Distinguished Paper Prize (multiple years)
- Alexander Henderson Award for Excellence in Economic Theory
Serves as Co-Director of the Alec Jeffreys Forensic Genomics Unit and editor of Annals of Human Genetics.
