Samuele Maschio is an Associate Professor and fixed-term researcher (type A) at the Department of Mathematics, University of Padova, Italy, where he has been working since May 2, 2017. His research spans multiple areas of mathematical logic and foundations.
His primary research interests include:
- Categorical Logic
- Constructive Mathematics and its Foundations
- Type Theory
- Mathematical modeling, problem posing, and teacher training at all levels of schooling
Dr. Maschio maintains an extensive international research network, having conducted visiting periods at institutions including Carnegie Mellon University (USA), TU Darmstadt (Germany), Canterbury University (New Zealand), and Japanese Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (Japan).
He was awarded the Cinquini-Cibrario prize in 2011 (ex-aequo). His academic journey began with a Laurea triennale in Mathematics from the University of Pavia, which he completed with highest honors (110/110 e lode) in 2007, followed by a Laurea Specialistica (Master's degree) in 2009, also with highest honors. He completed his PhD in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Pavia in 2012.
Outside of his academic pursuits, Dr. Maschio is an accomplished pianist who regularly performs at academic and community events, including Mathematics Department concerts and the Summer Math Camp in Paderno del Grappa. He has created his own arrangements of jazz pieces by artists such as Herbie Hancock and Thelonious Monk.
