Samuel C. Obi

Samuel C. Obi is a Professor and Director of Technology at San José State University, affiliated with the Department of Aviation and Technology within the Charles W. Davidson College of Engineering. He has been with the university since 1989. His expertise spans manufacturing systems, industrial ethics, and sustainable technology. He holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Technology from the University of Northern Iowa (1989), an M.Tech. from Southeastern Oklahoma State University (1985), and a B.S. (1984).

Dr. Obi’s research focuses on manufacturing processes, technology transfer to developing economies, and ethics in industry. He has authored multiple books, including Introduction to Manufacturing Systems and A Handbook of Productive Industrial Ethics, and contributed to peer-reviewed journals. His community involvement includes founding the Nigerian Language and Cultural Institute and serving as Trustee of the Epsilon Pi Tau honor society.

He teaches courses such as Quality Assurance, Sustainable Manufacturing, and Green Product Design. His service roles include Regional Director of Epsilon Pi Tau (2007–2016), Review Board member for Journal of Industrial Technology, and advisor to student organizations like the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.

Dr. Obi’s work emphasizes bridging educational and industrial needs, particularly in Silicon Valley, and promoting ethical practices in technology. He has also contributed to community development through cultural preservation initiatives.
