Samuel Barkin is Professor of Global Governance in the Department of Conflict Resolution, Human Security, and Global Governance at UMass Boston. His research examines international relations theory and international organizations, with specializations in global environmental politics, monetary systems, and sovereignty theories.
Research integrates constructivist approaches with political economy analyses, particularly regarding fisheries governance and sovereignty cartels. Recent work explores epistemological foundations of international relations pedagogy.
Extensive publications include influential texts on realist constructivism and global governance. Holds PhD and MPhil from Columbia University and has taught at Brown University, Wellesley College, and University of Florida.
