Arthur Stein

Arthur Stein is a Distinguished Research Professor of Political Science at UCLA. He specializes in international relations theory with expertise in ethnic conflict, terrorism, economic relations, and global governance. Educated at Yale University (PhD 1978), he has served on editorial boards of International Organization and American Political Science Review, and contributed to National Academy of Sciences committees on astronomy and astrophysics.

His research examines realist approaches to international uncertainty, structural constraints in global governance, ethnic conflict dynamics, and grand strategy formulation. Publications explore themes of power balancing, multilateral cooperation, and sovereignty challenges in contemporary international relations.
