Dr. Samir Alamad is an Assistant Professor of Finance at Coventry University's School of Economics, Finance and Accounting, with over 16 years of professional experience in banking and financial services. He holds a PhD in Financial Innovation and Engineering from Aston Business School and an MA in Banking Finance and Management from Loughborough University. His research focuses on Islamic finance, ethical finance, fintech applications, and risk management. He has authored two books and contributed to four others, with notable publications including 'A shared boundary object: Financial innovation and engineering in Islamic financial institutions' (2021), recognized as the most-reviewed article in the British Accounting Review that year.
Dr. Alamad serves as a Certified Adviser and Auditor accredited by AAOIFI and advises UK government departments on financial inclusion strategies. He co-developed the Takaful Alternative Student Finance scheme, enacted in the Higher Education Act 2017. His advisory roles include structuring alternative central bank liquidity facilities for the Bank of England. He is also a board member of AAOIFI’s Curriculum Review Committee and has lectured at the University of Birmingham’s MBA program.
