Aqsa Aziz

Dr. Aqsa Aziz serves as a Lecturer in Finance at Coventry University's School of Economics, Finance and Accounting within the Faculty of Business and Law. She holds dual expertise in scientific research and finance, having transitioned from a chemistry background to specialize in Islamic financial systems.

Her educational journey includes a PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from the University of Manchester (2000), a Master's with Distinction in Islamic Banking, Finance and Management from the University of Gloucestershire (2014), and a PGCE (Distinction) in Higher Education from Coventry University (2013). She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Dr. Aziz's research centers on Islamic finance with particular focus on Takaful (Islamic insurance) operations, corporate failure analysis in Islamic financial institutions, and performance evaluation of global Islamic banking systems. Her work combines practical industry insights with academic rigor, as demonstrated by her masterclass presentation at the International Takaful Summit.

Her publication history reveals evolving research trajectories from foundational Islamic banking principles (2010) to critical case studies of UK-based Islamic insurance failures (2014-2015), alongside pedagogical innovations in finance education. The research consistently addresses regulatory challenges, operational sustainability, and ethical frameworks within non-interest-based financial systems.
