Dr Sam Miles serves as Senior Lecturer in Medical Sociology at Queen Mary University of London's Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, where he leads sociology curriculum development across MBBS programs in London and Malta. As theme lead for Sociology, he teaches medical students in core modules including Human Sciences and Public Health, Fundamentals of Medicine, and Clinical Communication Skills, while directing qualitative research methods workshops on ethnography and NVivo.

Analysis of his 2020-2022 publications reveals dominant themes in transgender healthcare access, digital queer geographies, and sickle cell disease transitions. His work bridges public health, medical sociology, and urban geography, frequently appearing in high-impact journals like The Lancet and Global Public Health, with growing emphasis on pandemic-related community participation and methodological innovation in co-produced research.
