About
Sam Culley is a Grant-Funded Researcher (B) at the School of Architecture and Civil Engineering, part of the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology at the University of Adelaide. He completed a PhD in climate change impact assessments applied to water resource systems and holds a Bachelor of Civil & Structural Engineering (Hons) from the same institution (2011–2014). His research focuses on developing tools like foreSIGHT software to analyze climate threats to infrastructure, optimize operational responses, and assess bioenergy project viability in Australia. He has been funded by the Future Fuels CRC and collaborates on projects RP1.2-03, RP1.2-04, and RP1.2-06.
Education:
- Bachelor of Civil & Structural Engineering (Hons), University of Adelaide (2011–2014)
Research Interests: Sam’s work integrates formal optimization, data-driven modeling, and decision-making under uncertainty to address climate challenges in water, energy, and agricultural systems. He emphasizes sustainable transitions and the socio-technical barriers to bioenergy adoption.
Supervision & Grants:
- Co-supervisor for PhD students Aditi Rao (Renewable Energy Sustainability) and Jing Tian (Sustainable Energy Frameworks)
- Funded by Future Fuels CRC to investigate bioenergy opportunities and challenges
