Dr. Saiful Azam is a Lecturer in the Department of Accounting, Info Sys & Supply Chain at RMIT University. He holds a PhD in Accounting, an MBA, a Master of Business (Accountancy), and is a Chartered Accountant (CA). His research focuses on auditing, corporate accountability, and the integration of machine learning in financial reporting processes. He is particularly interested in how ML impacts audit procedures and financial statement assurance for listed companies in Australia.
Teaching interests include Financial Accounting and Accounting Data Analytics. He supervises research projects exploring the intersection of technology and auditing practices. His work spans environmental accounting, regulatory reforms, and fraud detection, evidenced by publications in journals like International Review of Economics and Finance and Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal.
Dr. Azam’s recent research includes studies on annual report readability’s impact on securities offerings, debt overhang’s environmental consequences, and climate policy reforms in Bangladesh. He actively collaborates with industry and academia to advance transparency and accountability in financial reporting systems.
