Dr. Saawani Raje-Byrne is a Lecturer in War Studies at the Department of War Studies, King’s College London, where she teaches postgraduate and undergraduate students. Prior to this, she served as a Lecturer in Defence Studies at King’s College London Defence Studies Department and taught at the Joint Services Command and Staff College in Shrivenham.
- Education: PhD from King’s College London (2021).
Her interdisciplinary research focuses on civil-military relations, South Asian security, Indian foreign policy, diplomatic and military history, and international relations, with a particular emphasis on South Asia. She is currently expanding her research to examine the armies of the British Empire and questions of loyalty.
Dr. Raje-Byrne has contributed to platforms like Strife Journal, Strife Blog, and The Asia Dialogue, analyzing topics such as Indo-Pakistani tensions, women in Indian politics, and historical dynamics of empire. Her work is associated with the Research Centre in International Relations (RCIR), which explores security and conflict practices.
