Prof. Dr. Salih Katırcıoğlu is Vice Rector at Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), holding a Professorship in the Department of Banking and Finance. He earned his PhD in Economics from Uludağ University (2000), and MS and BA degrees in Economics and Business Administration from EMU. His research focuses on tourism economics, financial market dynamics, monetary policy, and environmental-economic linkages. Over 50 PhD and Master’s students have been supervised under his guidance, exploring topics such as tourism stock performance, energy economics, and FDI impacts.
Key awards include consecutive EMU Publication Citation Awards (2018–2021). His academic contributions span empirical analyses of financial development, trade openness, and the interplay between tourism and macroeconomic growth. Active in advising, he continues to mentor ongoing research projects on cryptocurrency banking, Fed interest rate policies, and AfCFTA’s role in African economies.
