Specializing in Cross-Cultural Comparative Sociology, Social Stratification, Family, and Gender, Dr. Rich conducts research on homelessness among girls and young women in Arkansas, juvenile justice systems including youth court and child protection services, and trauma effects on adolescent substance abuse and risky sexual behavior. Her cross-cultural work examines China's one-child policy impacts on girls' education and determinants of family life satisfaction and marital instability in Asian societies.
As Undergraduate Research Coordinator, she actively mentors students in departmental research initiatives, with publications appearing in Gender and Society, Deviant Behavior, Journal of Child & Adolescent Substance Abuse, Global Studies Journal, and International Journal of Comparative Sociology.
