About
Prof. Rüdiger Behr is an Adjunct Professor and Head of the Platform Degenerative Diseases at the German Primate Center (DPZ) in Göttingen, affiliated with Georg-August-University. His research focuses on pluripotent stem cells (ESCs/iPSCs), gene editing (CRISPR/Cas), and preclinical models for degenerative diseases. He leads translational projects involving non-human primates and investigates germ cell development.
- Education: Diploma (1995) and PhD (1998) in Biology from Westfälische Wilhelms-University Münster.
- Postdocs: Institute of Reproductive Medicine (Münster), University of Pennsylvania (USA), and University of Essen (Germany).
Research interests include stem cell differentiation (e.g., cardiomyocytes), transposon-based gene expression systems, and primate disease modeling. His work bridges basic science and clinical applications, such as testing cell/gene therapies.
Selected Publications (2012–2020) highlight advancements in stem cell biology, gene editing, and primate developmental processes. He collaborates across disciplines, including cardiology and molecular endocrinology.
Behr’s platform at DPZ integrates molecular biology, genetics, and translational research. He contributes to the GGNB (Göttingen Graduate Center for Neurosciences, Biophysics, and Molecular Biosciences) through affiliations in Molecular Biology and Cardiovascular Science.
