Ryan Wilson

Dr. Ryan Wilson is a Senior Lecturer in Geography at the University of Huddersfield, UK, based in the Department of Physical and Life Sciences within the School of Applied Sciences. He serves as Acting Director of the Centre for Climate Resilient Societies and is a member of the Centre for Human and Physical Geography. His research focuses on cryosphere monitoring using GIS and remote sensing, particularly in the Andes and Antarctic regions. Key areas include glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs), glacier dynamics, and climate change impacts. Wilson has conducted fieldwork in Iceland, the European Alps, and Chile’s Central and Patagonian Andes, contributing to NERC-funded projects like 'Glacial Hazards in Chile' (2016–2018). He has published widely on glaciology, geohazards, and environmental policy, including studies on GLOF risk assessment frameworks and historical glacier retreat patterns.
