Ryan Randall

Ryan Randall serves as Senior Technician and Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Film and Media at Queen's University, concurrently acting as Technical Director of the Vulnerable Media Lab. An Associate of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers for 15 years, he actively produces commercials, documentaries, shorts, and media arts projects with international festival exposure.

His creative research centers on cinematographic techniques in documentary filmmaking, experimental media preservation, and vulnerable format restoration through the Vulnerable Media Lab. Randall's work bridges technical innovation with artistic storytelling, emphasizing physical media conservation in digital transition eras.

Randall's cinematographic excellence has been formally recognized through:

• 2021 Canadian Screen Award for Best Cinematography in Feature Length Documentary (Workhorse, 2020)
• Nomination for 2020 Canadian Society of Cinematographers Robert Brooks Award (Documentary Long Format)

His festival screenings span Toronto International Film Festival, Montreal International Documentary Festival, Locarno International Film Festival, and DOXA Documentary Festival. As Technical Director of the Vulnerable Media Lab, Randall leads initiatives in analog media conservation and experimental film production workflows.
