Professor Ruvani Ranasinha is Professor of Global Literatures at King's College London in the Department of English, Faculty of Arts & Humanities. She holds a BA from the University of Bristol and a DPhil from the University of Oxford.
Her research specializes in postcolonial literature and theory with focus on South Asia, gender studies, migration, and contemporary fiction. She has led major projects including the Leverhulme-funded 'Planned Violence' network and AHRC-supported 'Making Britain' initiative.
Her publications explore themes of diasporic identity, cultural representation of Muslim communities, and South Asian women's writing. Recent work examines narratives of cultural hybridity in urban contexts and decolonization of literary studies.
Honors include:
- Visiting Fellowships at University of Kelaniya and Vienna
- Editorial roles for Interventions journal and Orlando digital humanities project
- Research funding from Leverhulme Trust and AHRC
She leads postgraduate supervision in postcolonial literary studies and contributes to King's Global Cultures Institute.
