Ruth Pachter

Dr. Ruth Pachter serves as Senior Scientist in Computational Materials Science and Engineering at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), Materials and Manufacturing Directorate, and Chief Scientist for the Advanced Computational Analysis Directorate at the Aeronautical Systems Center. She concurrently holds an Adjunct Professor position in the Department of Computer Engineering at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT).

Her academic credentials include:

With over 30 years of research experience, Dr. Pachter specializes in theoretical and computational approaches to materials properties prediction, employing quantum mechanical calculations, large-scale atomistic simulations, and high-performance computing methodologies. Her work directly addresses Air Force requirements including laser protection materials development, bridging fundamental computational chemistry with defense applications through algorithmic innovations and quantitative modeling.
