Ruth Beecher is a Senior Research Fellow at the School of Historical Studies, Birkbeck, University of London. Her research focuses on histories of abuse, trauma, and recovery from survivor and practitioner perspectives, with geographical emphasis on Ireland, England, Scotland, and Wales from the 1950s to present. She co-chairs the Challenging Research Network and founded Úna Gan a Gúna, a heritage charity dedicated to preserving Irish women's oral histories.
