Ruth Abbey is the John Cardinal O'Hara, C.S.C. Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Notre Dame. She specializes in political philosophy, ethics, and postmodern thought, with a focus on the works of Charles Taylor and Friedrich Nietzsche. Her research explores pluralism, liberalism, and the intersection of philosophy with gender and multiculturalism.
She has received prestigious fellowships, including a Leverhulme Trust Research Fellowship and a research fellowship at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. Her book Charles Taylor was recognized as one of the 2002 Outstanding Academic Titles by Choice Magazine.
