Rusty Bresser is a Lecturer in the Department of Education Studies at the University of California, San Diego. He holds a B.A. in Anthropology (UCSD, 1978), an M.A. in Curriculum Design (UCSD, 2001), a Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential (UCSD, 1979), and a specialist LH Credential (UCSD, 1982). Prior to his current role, he taught K-8 for over 20 years and served as a science instructor for UCSD Extension.
His research addresses equity in mathematics and science education, emphasizing innovative pedagogical approaches. He has authored or co-authored several influential books, including Math and Literature, Grades 4-6 and Becoming Scientists: Inquiry-Based Teaching in Diverse Classrooms, which integrate interdisciplinary strategies to support diverse learners.
