Russell L. Claxton is a Professor of Education and Online Chair in the School of Education at Liberty University. He holds a B.S. in Human Resources Management (Liberty University, 1987), M.Ed. (University of West Georgia, 1993), Ed.S. and Ed.D. (University of Georgia, 2000). With 21 years in public school administration, he transitioned to academia, teaching at Georgia State University and Liberty University. Currently, he serves as a residential faculty member, leading roles include Chair of Curriculum and Instruction, Chair of Leadership and Advanced Programs, and Director of Educational Leadership.
His research focuses on educational leadership, school administration, emergency management planning, and special education support in higher education. Notable works include studies on interagency collaboration in school safety and support services for students with autism spectrum disorder.
Dr. Claxton teaches courses in Educational Leadership, School Law, and Supervision of Instruction. He has received the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching (2023). His contributions span presentations, books, and peer-reviewed articles addressing professionalism in education and leadership strategies.
