Ruiying Gao

Ruiying Gao is an Assistant Professor at Wake Forest University, specializing in East Asian Art. She holds degrees from the University of Hong Kong (B.A.), Columbia University (M.A.), and the University of Kansas (Ph.D.).

Her research explores the intersections of natural history and visual arts, book culture, and the contributions of women artists in East Asia. She also investigates Japanese prints, Chinese bronze traditions, and cross-regional artistic exchanges.

Dr. Gao’s work has been supported by grants from the Bei Shan Tang Foundation, the Metropolitan Center for Far Eastern Art Studies, the Getty Foundation, and the Hall Center for Humanities.
