Roy Edwards is a Lecturer in Accounting at the University of Southampton's Business School, where he has been employed since September 1999. He teaches engineering management, introductory accounting, and business/accounting history courses including FEEG 2006 engineering management and law, and MANG 3065 Information, Organisation and Accountability from a Historical Perspective.
His research focuses on:

Dr Edwards' work heavily utilizes archival evidence from sources like the National Archives to explore topics such as the Industrial Reorganisation Corporation in the 1960s and the changing management culture of London Transport. He collaborates with researchers including Dr James Fowler and has published extensively in journals like Business History and Enterprise and Society.
His publication record shows consistent expertise in transportation history, particularly British railways, industrial policy, and organizational change across multiple decades. Recent work continues to examine historical aspects of sustainability and energy transitions.
Dr Edwards is actively involved in PhD supervision, currently guiding Simon Alexander Charles Martin in Business Studies & Management, and supervises final year dissertations.
He has made significant contributions to academic communities through roles with the British Academy of Management and the Business Archives Council, where he served for 12 years organizing the BAC Wadsworth Prize and promoting business archive preservation.
