Roshan M Patel

Roshan M. Patel, MD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Urology at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine. He serves as Chief of the Division of Endourology and Director of the UCI Health Kidney Stone Center, where he specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of kidney diseases and disorders.

Dr. Patel's research interests focus on outcomes-based studies of minimally invasive surgery for kidney cancer, methodology for percutaneous surgery for large kidney stones, and evaluation of new technologies that have the potential to change endourology surgical practices. He has authored or co-authored more than three dozen research manuscripts and book chapters, and has developed several patents in his field.

His extensive publication record demonstrates expertise in ureteral stent encrustation, laser lithotripsy, robotic intrarenal surgery, and stone disease management. Recent publications examine innovative approaches to stone volume measurement, temperature effects on laser ablation, and pharmaceutical modulation of ureteral physiology.

Dr. Patel completed his medical degree at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, followed by a urology residency at Boston University School of Medicine and an endourology fellowship at UCI School of Medicine's Department of Urology. He has received numerous awards from international societies for his contributions to the field of urology.

As a board-certified urologist, Dr. Patel's clinical practice encompasses minimally invasive kidney stone surgery, percutaneous nephrolithotomy, robot-assisted and laparoscopic kidney surgery, kidney cryoablation, and treatment of ureteropelvic junction obstruction. His work bridges clinical practice with cutting-edge research to improve patient outcomes in stone disease management.
