Associate Professor Ronnie Scott is a novelist, comics scholar, and academic leader at RMIT University’s School of Media & Communication. He co-directs the non/fictionLab, an interdisciplinary research group, and leads the Folio project on graphic storytellers funded by the Australian Research Council. His research focuses on creative writing, queer storytelling, AIDS memory, nonhuman consciousness, and Australian comics.
His novels The Adversary (2020) and Shirley (2023) have been critically acclaimed and shortlisted for major literary awards. As a scholar, he explores oral histories of Australian comics-makers and curates collections at the National Library of Australia. He also co-convenes Gutter Stars, a comics collective collaborating with industry partners like Pink Ember Studio.
