Ronald Spatz

Ronald Spatz is Professor of English at University of Alaska Anchorage specializing in narrative theory, short story, and literary editing. As founding editor-in-chief of Alaska Quarterly Review, he has shaped contemporary literary culture through publication of emerging writers.

His administrative leadership includes founding UAA's Honors College (2001-2014) and undergraduate research programs. Documentary film work explores Alaskan themes through experimental formats broadcast on PBS and educational networks.

Honors include White House recognition, Congressional acknowledgment, and Alaska State Legislature commendations for contributions to literary arts. Pedagogical approach integrates creative practice with literary studies across fiction, non-fiction, and film production courses.
