Rolf Roeder is a Professor (emeritus) of Technical Design at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle. His career spans academia, freelance design, and industrial design leadership. Born in 1939, he studied at the Fachschule für angewandte Kunst Magdeburg (1960–1963) and the Hochschule für industrielle Formgestaltung Halle (1968–1972). From 1979–1990, he led the Design Department at the Institut für Luft- und Kältetechnik Dresden. In 1990, he co-founded the 'dresdner souterrain' atelier and transitioned to freelance work. He served as a Professor for Technical Design from 1994–2004, after which he retired from active university service but remains active in exhibitions and events.
