Rodney Allen

Rodney Allen is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Allied Health Sciences at the University of Connecticut, within the College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources. He holds a PhD and MS in Health Education from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, and an undergraduate degree in Government and Economics.

With over 25 years of experience in occupational safety and health, Dr. Allen previously managed programs at General Dynamics Corporation, including Electric Boat in Connecticut. His expertise spans disease/injury prevention, health promotion, and consulting for businesses and insurance sectors. His military career included roles in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve Special Operations Command, Special Forces, and Civil Affairs, contributing to his knowledge in humanitarian emergency response and prevention.

Dr. Allen teaches courses such as Health and Safety Management in the Workplace, Health and Safety Standards in the Workplace, Poverty and Public Health, and Complex Humanitarian Emergencies Seminar. His research focuses on occupational health systems, disaster preparedness, and the intersection of public health with military and humanitarian operations.
