Rockford Sansom is an Associate Professor of Voice & Speech at Louisiana State University's School of Theatre, where he serves as Associate Head of the MFA Acting program and voice coach for LSU's resident theatre, Swine Palace. He is also Affiliate Faculty with LSU’s linguistics program and has collaborated internationally as a voice and accent coach for Off-Broadway, Off-West End, and regional theatres, as well as Fortune 500 executives and public figures.
- Education: PhD in Education (Capella University), MFA in Theatre (University of Central Florida), voice certifications from Fitzmaurice, Knight-Thompson, and Estill (Master Trainer).
His research focuses on voice pedagogy, vocal training, and performance studies, with over 30 articles and five books addressing these areas. He co-authored the leading text Voice Work: Art and Science in Changing Voices and edited the journal Voice and Speech Review, contributing to its Q1 Scopus status.
Scientific awards include the ATLAS Grant, Dorothy Mennen Research Grant, and the Lifetime Distinguished Member of VASTA, which he received as the youngest honoree in the organization’s history. He has lectured at over 30 universities globally and holds affiliations with SAG-AFTRA, AEA, and VASTA.
