Robin Beth Schaer is a Lecturer in the Department of English at Case Western Reserve University. Her research and teaching focus on hybrid forms, contemporary poetry, environmental writing, documentary poetics, gender/sexuality studies, global literature, and Jewish studies. She holds degrees from Colgate University and Columbia University’s School of the Arts.

Her creative work includes the poetry collection Shipbreaking (Anhinga Press, 2015) and a work in progress on art and atrocity. Her writing has appeared in prestigious journals like Tin House, Paris Review, and Guernica.

She has taught writing across New York, New Jersey, and Ohio, and previously worked as a deckhand aboard the Tall Ship Bounty (lost in Hurricane Sandy).
