Robert Doede

Dr. Robert Doede is a Professor at Trinity Western University (TWU), affiliated with the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences. He holds academic roles in multiple departments: Philosophy, Gender Studies, Multidisciplinary Studies, Interdisciplinary Humanities (MA), and Geography & Environment. He is currently on sabbatical for the Spring 2025 semester.

Education: B.R.E. from William Tyndale College, MCS from Regent College, and Ph.D. from Kings College, University of London.

Research focuses on existentialism, aesthetics, philosophy of mind, feminist philosophy, philosophy of embodiment, and technology’s societal impacts. He has contributed to journals like Appraisal and Tradition and Discovery, and was featured in CBC Radio One and Lorna Dueck's Listen Up TV for discussions on technology and education.

Invited to write for the University of Toronto’s Bulletin of Science, Technology, and Society on Michael Polanyi’s philosophy. His 2009 Appraisal article critiques transhumanist visions of posthumanity.
