Rob Miller is a Professor of Computer Science at MIT and a member of the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL). He holds leadership roles as Education Officer for the MIT Schwarzman College of Computing and MIT EECS, and served as Associate Director of CSAIL. His academic journey includes BS/MS degrees from MIT (1995) and a PhD from Carnegie Mellon University (2002).
Motivated by the intersection of programming and human-computer interaction (HCI), his research focuses on improving software development tools, online education platforms, and end-user programming systems. He leads the Usable Programming Group and co-leads the HCI Community of Research at CSAIL.
Recipient of numerous accolades, including the NSF CAREER Award, seven best paper awards, and the MacVicar Faculty Fellowship for teaching excellence, his contributions span technical innovation and educational leadership.
