Rima Saini

Dr Rima Saini is a Senior Lecturer in Sociology at Middlesex University's Department of Criminology and Sociology, affiliated with the Faculty of Business and Law. She specializes in ethnic minority class formation, political conservatisms, and decolonial pedagogy. Her roles include Co-Chair of Ethics for the School of Law, Co-Director of the Migration, Politics and Society Research Cluster, and Co-Chair of the Middlesex University Anti-Racism Network. She serves as a Trustee of the British Sociological Association and Editorial Board Member of Sociology.

Her research focuses on intersections of race, class, and political identity among South Asian communities in the UK, with recent publications exploring conservative political elites' paradoxical representation and decolonial approaches to quantitative methods teaching. She supervises doctoral researcher Terrance Belfon. Notable outputs include a 2024 monograph on British South Asian middle-class identity and collaborative work on post-racial gatekeeping in UK politics.

Dr Saini advocates for curriculum reform through decolonial frameworks, evidenced by her 2019 Political Studies Review paper on decolonizing curricula. Her work bridges theoretical sociology with practical institutional change, reflected in her leadership roles across multiple academic initiatives.
