Riina Oruaas

Riina Oruaas is a Lecturer in Theatre Studies at the University of Tartu since 2011 and teaches Drama Theory at the Estonian Academy of Arts. She holds a master’s degree in Theatre Studies from the University of Tartu, where she defended her thesis on Estonian traditional theatre in 2010. Her professional roles include working at the Under and Tuglas Literature Centre and as an editor at the Estonian Drama Theatre, focusing on theatre criticism and research. Her research interests span posthumanist approaches to theatre, contemporary Estonian theatre, and the socio-cultural dimensions of performance. Key publications include analyses of Theatre NO99’s political narratives, Von Krahli Theatre’s memory-centric works, and the evolution of traditional Estonian theatre in the 21st century.
