Rick Goetz is a Lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts at Simpson University. In his 11th year at the institution, he serves as an Instructor, Designer, and Technical Director. His recent work includes scenery design for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and lighting design for Tartuffe, Playhouse Creatures, and The Comedy of Errors. He has also contributed to operatic productions such as Venus and Adonis, Cendrillon, and The Mikado.
Previously, Rick worked at the Lyric Opera of Kansas City, where he designed lights for approximately 20 productions over 12 years. His academic background includes graduate studies at the University of Nebraska and a B.A. in Instrumental Music from Dickinson State University (1985).
Rick’s areas of expertise span Lighting Design, Technical Direction, and Stage Carpentry, reflecting his technical and creative contributions to theatre production.
