David T. Howard is a Professor of Costume Design at the University of Rhode Island (URI) and a resident artist at The Gamm Theatre, where he has collaborated on over 30 productions. His recent designs include The Big Meal, Far Away (millinery design), Anne Boleyn, and Festen.

At URI, Howard has designed 30 productions, including Be Aggressive, Metamorphoses, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and Twelfth Night (scenery and costumes). His costume and sabbatical work was showcased in the solo exhibit Guilding the Shoestrings II at URI’s Providence Campus. Additional design credits include Theatre-By-The-Sea, Elemental Theatre, Connecticut Rep, and Brown University.
Howard is a founding member of The Beauty Salon, a weekly aesthetics radio show. His research interests span costume design, millinery, scenic design, and interdisciplinary theatre collaboration.
