Dr. Richard Taylor is a Lecturer (Education Focused) in the School of Law at RMIT University, specializing in administrative law, civil procedure, environmental law, and corporate law. His research focuses on international environmental law, resources law, and taxpayer behavior in mining sectors, with particular attention to Southeast Asian countries like Laos, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea. He holds a PhD in Law from Monash University, an MBA from the University of Cambridge, an LL.M. from Australian National University, and a B.Ec/LL.B. from the University of Newcastle.
His academic career includes roles as a Mining Specialist at the World Bank and diplomatic positions in trade negotiations. Research interests span mining law, international trade law, environmental sustainability, and corporate compliance. He has contributed to top-tier law journals and presented at global conferences, emphasizing grounded theory in qualitative research methodologies.
Teaching experience includes contracts law, civil procedure, administrative law, and business and human rights at RMIT and Monash University. Professional engagements include the Resource Endowment Initiative of the International Council on Mining and Metals. His work bridges legal scholarship with practical policy analysis in resource governance and international development.
