Dr Richard Kearns is a Lecturer in cinematography and visual effects at the University of York's School of Arts and Creative Technologies. His research explores the relationship between audio-visual elements, meaning, and narrative within new media environments, drawing from multiple disciplines including creativity studies, engineering, and psychology.
His creative practice investigates how emerging media technologies can be integrated with embodied experiences to create immersive multi-sensory environments, with particular focus on how users emotionally appropriate and interpret these experiences.
