Richard Hazenberg serves as Professor of Social Innovation and Research Leader at the University of Northampton's Institute for Social Innovation and Impact (ISII), driving research at the intersection of social enterprise and public policy.
His research program centers on:
- Social innovation frameworks for systemic change
- Financial mechanisms in social enterprise (social finance)
- Public sector transformation through innovation
- Rigorous social impact/value measurement methodologies
Professor Hazenberg actively translates research into practice through consultancy for 60+ UK third sector organizations and policy contributions to the European Commission, Cabinet Office, and HM Treasury. He currently supervises four PhD students and has successfully completed eight doctoral supervisions, emphasizing applied research in social entrepreneurship.
As a key academic voice, he serves as Associate Editor for the Social Enterprise Journal and Journal of Social Entrepreneurship while reviewing for leading public policy journals.
